Let It Rain

As I was watching the rain come down tonight, I couldn't help but think about what it's like after the rain is gone. After a good rain in the country, you can step outside and the smell of earth and soil hits you like a wall! All the plants have an HD glow about them and the air is cool and crisp. It's as though the earth was cleansed from the inside out. And then I started thinking, isn't that what Jesus does for us? When Jesus died on the cross, His Blood poured down on us and washed our sins away. His Blood cleanses us down to the core. And it's all for free! Just like we don't have to pay a dime for rain, we don't have to pay anything for salvation! All we have to do is believe!

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved" Acts 16:31

"But God showed His love for us in this, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" Romans 5:8

"For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" Romans 3:23

You see, there is nothing we can do to earn God's salvation. Just like we can't force the rain to come with a dance or song, we can't force God to save us. And no matter how many times we mess up, no matter how many times we sin and turn our backs on God, we still can be saved! Just like the rain washes away the filth of the earth, so Jesus' Blood washes away the worst of our sins.
