Seeking God

Oftentimes I find myself praying "God, bring me closer to you" and then sitting around, waiting for Him to do it. But what I forget, and what a lot of people forget, is that if we want to be closer to God, we have to draw closer to Him.

“But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul” (Deuteronomy 4:29).

Our relationship with the Almighty Creator isn't a one way street where we send Him requests and He does them. Rather, we must constantly find ways to "meet Him halfway," so to say. When it comes to getting closer to God, this means we have to delve deeper into God's Word, the Bible, and pray more often. We must strive to live a life pleasing to God. And in doing so, we will draw closer to God and He will draw closer to us.

I know that lately I have not been reading my Bible as often or praying as much as I used to. So my challenge for myself and for you is this: To read the Bible twice a day and to pray whenever possible. In doing so, we can actively seek God and we will discover just how amazing He is.
